Hydroflux to Deliver Containerised System for AI-Optimised Membrane Recycling Pilot as part of Australian First trial

November 18, 2025

Hydroflux has been engaged to support a pioneering Australian first initiative that will combine artificial intelligence with online virus-removal monitoring to optimise membrane-based water recycling to produce potable grade and ultra-pure water from treated wastewater.

In 2023, Yokogawa engaged Hydroflux to design a treatment system capable of processing 100 kL/day of treated secondary effluent into two distinct reuse qualities. Building on this work, Yokogawa has since partnered with coNEXA to deliver the Advanced Recycled Water Pilot (AWP Pilot), in Mayfield, NSW.

Example of the HyPure® RO System

Hydroflux will design & fabricate the containerised membrane treatment system, integrating all major process components and providing the platform for Yokogawa’s AI-driven control logic and innovative online virus-removal monitoring instrumentation.

With over a decade of experience in both wastewater recycling and ultrapure water production as well as solutions proven to deliver lowest total cost of ownership, Hydroflux brings demonstrated capability to this cutting-edge project.

The Hydroflux team will collaborate closely with both Yokogawa and coNEXA across the course of the project and through the testing phase of the trial.

“Our partnership with Yokogawa and coNEXA is of critical importance to Hydroflux. Both Yokogawa and coNEXA are investing to support and drive sustainable outcomes for the water sector. This is very much aligned with Hydroflux core values, and we can see the outcomes of this trial having a meaningful impact in the area of water reuse, both locally and globally.” stated Mitchell Hastings, Director and head of Hydroflux membrane solutions.

We are excited to be collaborating with Yokogawa and coNEXA to help advance the next generation of intelligent water treatment solutions.
