Hydroflux Awarded Non-Potable Water Treatment System for the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline
June 10, 2025
Hydroflux has been engaged to design and construct a non-potable water treatment system equipped with HyPURE® Media and Activated Carbon Filtration for the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline (FGP). The FGP is a 117 km pipeline connecting the Lower Fitzroy River near Rockhampton, to Gladstone Area Water Board’s network at Mt Miller.

The non-potable water treatment system incorporates high-pressure media filtration using glass media to capture solids from 5–10 μm. Following this, activated carbon filters eliminate residual free chlorine and toxins.
The overall scope of works for Hydroflux on FGP will involve design and supply of:
- MMF and ACF vessels c/w nozzle plate design and side and top maintenance manways.
- Three 1.2m diameter multimedia filtration (MMF) vessels in duty/duty/standby configuration.
- Four 1.4m diameter duty/duty/duty/Standby activated carbon filtration (ACF) vessels.
- A skid mounted valve rack c/w instrumentation, piping, and actuated valves with feedback.
Hydroflux will also provide installation supervision and commissioning support as required.

Hydroflux’s design and construction expertise in water treatment extends across various industries, including mining, industrial, and infrastructure where proprietary technology such as ion exchange (IX), reverse osmosis (RO), and electrodionisation (EDI) are often utilised. The table below is a summary of some of our other recent achievements in this field.
Industry | Location | Supply |
Mining | VIC | Five custom MMF vessels constructed from specialised resin as part of the precious minerals’ recovery process. |
Industrial | VIC | Potable water treatment plant inclusive of six MMF & four ACF FRP Vessels. |
Infrastructure | NSW | Permanent water treatment plant for the treatment of ground water at the WCX M4/M5 interchange and inclusive of four MMF, two ACF and two heavy metals IX vessels. All vessels constructed from FRP. |
Infrastructure | NSW | Three temporary water treatment plants for the treatment of tunnelling water for a major Sydey roads infrastructure project. Total project inclusive of twelve MMF and three softening IX vessels. All vessels constructed from FRP. |
Infrastructure | NSW | Three temporary water treatment plant for the treatment of construction water. Total project inclusive of eight (8) MMF, five (5) ACF and three (3) Nitrates & PFAS IX vessels. Vessels supplied included a combination of painted mild steel and FRP. |
Energy | QLD | Supply and installation of a packaged demineralisation water treatment plant consisting of zeolite, carbon filtration, softening IX, RO and EDI. |
